This past week, as Modernism Week energy filled the air, I had the opportunity to tour and show some truly extraordinary homes—architectural stunners that stopped me mid-sentence and reminded me, once again, why Palm Springs is unlike anywhere else. The vision. The boldness. The confidence. From iconic midcentury estates to striking contemporary builds still rising from the desert floor, it was a vivid reminder of how much incredible architecture has been built here—and continues to be. And quite honestly, that’s my favorite perk of being a real estate agent—the rare privilege of touring extraordinary homes I might never otherwise enter, all while maintaining the illusion of professionalism as I internally spiral over good design (even if my client doesn't necessarily "get it!")

Sometimes it doesn’t hurt to dream a little.
Actually, that’s not entirely true. Sometimes it hurts just enough to confirm that your lottery ticket plan is more theory than strategy and that your bank account has been quietly voting “no” on all major life upgrades.

Still, dreaming has its place.

And let’s face it—this kind of dreaming is what sparked an entire movement. It’s the reason Modernism Week exists at all: to give us permission to peek inside the iconic homes and architectural experiments born during the Desert Modern era, while also opening the doors to bold new modern homes still being imagined and built today. For a few days each year, curiosity becomes a communal activity, and architecture lovers are invited to wander, wonder, and imagine what it might be like to live inside the ideas that shaped Palm Springs.

Luxury homes in Palm Springs occupy a very specific mental space—somewhere between inspiration and mild emotional whiplash. You scroll through listings. You pause. You zoom in. You study a terrazzo floor that costs more than your first car and think, Well, that seems excessive—which, of course, means you love it.

For some fortunate homeowners, these residences are everyday reality. They wake up inside glass-walled masterpieces, sip coffee while the mountains frame their morning, and debate whether today feels more like an infinity pool day or a “watch the light shift across polished concrete” kind of afternoon.

For the rest of us? We look.

And that’s okay.

As much as I enjoy showing $5 million, $8 million—even $10 million—homes, here’s the truth: while I’m opening doors to architectural showpieces, I’m also quietly keeping an eye out for my next fixer project… preferably with a price tag under $200,000. And you know what? That feels just as exciting.

Because whether it’s a sprawling luxury estate or a humble 1,000-square-foot bungalow, good design is good design. A dramatic roofline. Clerestory windows. Indoor-outdoor flow. Thoughtful materials. Clean lines. Many of the best ideas found in Palm Springs’ most iconic luxury homes can be translated—beautifully—into smaller, more attainable spaces.

Maybe it’s a breeze block wall.
Maybe it’s a wall of glass.
Maybe it’s just letting the desert and the light do the heavy lifting.

There’s something oddly comforting about touring homes you may never own. It’s aspirational, sure—but it’s also educational. It sharpens your eye. It reminds you what’s possible. Call it inspiration. Call it research. Or call it what everyone secretly calls it: real estate porn—gorgeous, glossy, and best enjoyed without calculating carrying costs.

These homes are not merely large; they are intentional. Kitchens designed more for visual impact than meal prep. Living rooms that echo just enough to announce their importance. Bathrooms with soaking tubs so perfectly staged you suspect a lighting designer had a moment of spiritual clarity.

And while envy may flicker, there’s no bitterness here—just appreciation. A respectful nod to architectural ambition. And the quiet realization that you don’t need five bathrooms to steal a great idea.

Below is a curated list of some of our favorite fantasy homes—Palm Springs architectural treasures that stop us mid-scroll and make us say, That’s completely unnecessary, which is really just another way of saying, "Well done."

So take a look. Dream a little.  Book that Modernism Home Tour

Whether you’re shopping for a landmark estate or simply imagining how a touch of luxury design might elevate your own home, Modernism Week is a reminder that Palm Springs has always been about vision—at every scale, from iconic estates down to the most modest bungalow with good bones and big ideas.

And—just to cover all possibilities—if you are one of the lucky people whose daydream includes actually buying one of these architectural jewels, please do reach out. I would be more than happy to show you around, open some very impressive doors, and represent you in the process with an appropriate mix of enthusiasm, discretion, and barely contained excitement.
