Palm Springs is Hip and Popular

Palm Springs is once again a favorite among TripAdvisor users and also now coined as one of the hippest cities in the US.  As recently featured in various blogs and articles, Palm Springs is again on the radar.

Trip Advisor's travel site's 2016 Travelers' Choice Awards place the Coachella Valley city  of Palm Springs in the No. 12 spot on the ranking of top 25 United States destinations.  Travelers’ Choice award winners were determined based on the reviews and opinions of millions of TripAdvisor travelers around the globe.

Maybe Palm Springs made the top 25 travel destinations because we're also HIP??

With poolside glamour, Midcentury Modern architecture, vintage shops, tennis at dusk, seriously delicious eateries, an old timer here and there, hot desert days and even hotter desert nights, what's not to love about Palm Springs?  Toss in a pinch of Old Hollywood glamour and new hipster cool, and Palm Springs is a spot-on destination for a chill long weekend, just a 90-minute flight from San Francisco, as well as a great place to live!

From "The Daily Beast," People who have never been to Palm Springs, California, or those who haven’t visited this picturesque desert oasis in years, will no doubt be surprised to find the town listed as No. 1 on Gogobot.com’s March 2016 list of “The 10 Hippest Mid-Sized Cities in America.”

Just what does "hip" mean??  This is how Palm Springs made this list:

"There is no universal definition of “hip.” For some, it’s hipster — that ironic cool that has been perfected by the likes of Brooklyn and Portland. For others, it’s trendy and fashion forward, showing off the latest, chicest clubs, restaurants, and boutiques, a la Miami or LA. And while big cities are often known for being hip, smaller cities get passed over, but that shouldn’t be the case. To find the 10 hippest mid-sized cities, we grabbed the U.S. cities with ranks #100-900 by population according to census data and sorted them by the preferences of our Trendsters Tribe. They’re smaller, sure, but each celebrate cool in their own unique way."

Why Palm Springs is  hip:  Palm Springs was once known for being a retirement haven where the post-employment crowd liked to spend their vacations and golden years. But now that has changed. While it’s still Baby Boomer-friendly, it’s now also LGBT-friendly, foodie-friendly, mircrobrew-friendly, and millennial-friendly. Its also a central hangout for international music festivals, like Coachella and Stagecoach.

So we agree, Palm Springs deserves its placement in top travel destinations, and it is hip, we know that too.  And that may also explain why people that visit, are also moving here!  Hey, maybe its a good idea to live in one of your favorite places?
